Mr. Naifeh and Mr. Smith Wow...that's all I can say! I went to Politics & Prose tonight to hear Steven Naifeh and Gregory White Smith discuss their new biography on Vincent Van Gogh. I had my great colleague and friend Patrick along with me. It was so enjoyable to listen to these two men discuss their work with such passion. I read their book on Jackson Pollock, which was eventually used to as the basis for the screenplay for the Pollock movie. And then I saw 60 Minutes a couple of weeks ago, and they featured both authors talking about their new book on Van Gogh. Luckily, I checked around on the web and saw that they were going to be in DC. The lecture was unbelievably entertaining and thought provoking. I could've listened to them talk all night. Oh how I wish it would've been longer. Then they had some questions, and the book signing. I was able to get my Pollock book signed, along with the new one as well. They were enlightening, informative, and it was a joy to listen to them. I talked with them about what I do, and they were so supportive, kind, and truly supportive of art education. I'd love to see if I could get them to come and meet with Howard County art teachers. Just a thought...
