Like I said in an earlier posting, my wife and I were "lucky" enough to catch Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait at Merriweather tonight. Thanks to a few anonymous former parents, we had a great date night. Date nights don't come very often for us anymore due to a variety of factors, but it was very nice. I am so humbled that former parents would grace us with tickets to this show because of a contest that we didn't win, and as a thank you for teaching their children. I'm truly blessed in my life and need to remember that more often.
The seats were incredible; totally not what I was expecting. The sound was phenomenal. Thanks to those that made this night possible. I cannot ever thank you enough!

When I arrived at school this morning, I was completely caught off-guard. There was a bouquet of flowers waiting for me in the office with a card. Now, let me be the first to tell you this doesn't happen very often. Who am I kidding? This never happens! The card was from a few former parents, thanking me for teaching their kids, and had a pair of concert tickets for my wife and me to to see Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat at Merriweather on 9/24.
Now for a little background to this story. I entered my wife and myself into a concert on Facebook. The contest was called "Lucky in Love" (based on the Mraz/Caillat song) and sponsored by MPP. You had to submit the story of how you met your spouse/significant other, basically hawking for tickets. The story with the most "likes" on MPP's Facebook page would win two VIP tix to the show, dinner and a limo, all on their dime! I surprised Melissa by submitting the story of how we met, married, etc. For those of you that don't know, it's a very long, drawn out, sometimes tragic story, but with a wonderful happy ending! Think of a Lifetime Channel movie, but with a much better ending! I won't digress into the story here, but it's a pretty big deal for us, and all TRUE! I tried like crazy to win, posting the story all over the place with a link to vote. I thought we had it for sure. Alas, we didn't win. I have to be honest, I was pretty bummed about it. I really wanted to see that look on my wife's face after we won. Fast forward to today. I nearly cried when I read the card. It took all I had not to in front of the office staff. The rest of the day I was giddy for sure. I brought it home, and my wife got that look on her face that I wanted her to have if we had won. She cried on the outside, like I did on the inside. Thanks to those that made this happen. I'm fairly certain I know who was responsible, but they wanted to remain anonymous. That's fine, but I owe some folks some huge hugs! THANK YOU! |
